Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorna Moon.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

When I was six, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I took on the helper role in the family, taking care of my younger siblings, cooking, and helping around the house. Mom’s cancer went into remission for a few years but returned as bone cancer. She died when I was 16. My mom’s passing turned my tumultuous teenage years into a launchpad for disaster. To escape my grief I turned to substances and unhealthy relationships. I graduated high school with honors but felt lost. In college, my grief got the best of me and I left school after a year to start working. While I enjoyed success and advancement in my career, deep down I wasn’t happy. My relationships were messy. I put all my effort into achieving big career goals. However, with each accomplishment, I still felt empty. Three failed marriages later, I started to question the purpose of my existence. I poured over self-improvement books, worked on personal growth and healing, and reconnected with God. By doing this inner-work, I began to rediscover my true self. Moreover, I began to realize there was something I was meant to do in the world, but I wasn’t doing it. I prayed to God for guidance. During meditation one day, the answer came to me. My mission is to empower people to reach their full potential, free from the limitations that prevent too many people from experiencing their best lives. I became a coach to fulfill this calling.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

I thought being an entrepreneur would be an easy jump for me since I’d already enjoyed tremendous success in my career and had acquired an MBA along the way. I was wrong. Starting a business, especially one where you’re the product is a life-changing experience. You learn about yourself and what you are made of. You also have the chance to finally face your remaining limiting beliefs and slay those dragons for good. I had to overcome my own internal resistance and tendency to play small. Although this was incredibly frustrating at times, it was the most rewarding and liberating experience. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

In the simplest terms, I specialize in helping people figure out exactly what they want, why they want it and how to get it. Most people think they know what they want, but when they are asked to describe it in detail, they are much better at defining what they don’t want, than what they do want. This is the reason so many people aren’t living the life they desire, because they never stopped to define what that looks like and just as importantly, why they want it. Until you know what you want and why, you can’t possibly make it happen. You are living in default mode, which is hardly a recipe for happiness and fulfillment. I get my clients off autopilot and into conscious creation. They know exactly what they want and the steps to get it. They have me to cheer them on and believe in their ability to succeed. I also hold them accountable to their plan and provide the loving kick in the pants when they get stuck. As far as competition goes, I don’t believe in it. I am the only Lorna Moon there is and the only one who can offer my unique gifts to clients. For the people who resonate with my story and energy, I’m the natural choice.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Regarding success, you must first and foremost believe in your heart that it is possible for you to succeed. If you are not able to genuinely believe that for whatever reason, it’s best to get a coach. You need someone who can help you find your self-imposed limitations and expose them so that you can overcome these obstacles. A coach can also be your cheerleader and you can borrow their belief in you as you build your own confidence. I want to tell everyone that it’s not always easy, but it is always worth it. You are your best investment. Invest the time, money, and effort to get there. The payoff will be beyond what you could ever imagine.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

To me, success is internal fulfillment. It is loving my life and what I choose to do with it. Success can never be taken away by any external circumstance. It is realizing that, regardless of what appears on the outside, I get to decide how I feel about it and what I want to create from it. Does that sometimes show up as a profitable business or loving relationship? Absolutely. But it can also be remaining calm and centered while waiting in a long line at the grocery store where everyone in front of you is writing a check.

What’s next for you?

I am currently creating a coaching program for teens and their parents/caregivers. In my own life and my work with clients, I have noticed how so many issues people are fighting later in life could have been prevented by the right coaching in the tween/teen years. Adolescence is such a huge transition period. Peer pressure and negative influences are everywhere, especially with social media. Using coaching, I will help teens gain the self-confidence to make good decisions aligned with their higher self as opposed to poor ones influenced by peers and love interests. By working with parents/caregivers as well, we can develop healthy communication patterns on both sides so that teens feel safe talking to their parents before something bad occurs and parents know how to support and guide their teens in a productive manner. Having this in my own life would have saved me the consequences of many years of poor decisions. I would like to spare as many young people as possible this pain and set them up for the best possible future.
