The tattoo business continues to be dominated by Clearwater, Florida native Dan Price. Dan is a high-end black and gray tattoo artist who travels throughout the world. Unlike some artists who prioritize cash over relationships, Dan ensures his clients’ concepts are solidified during every engagement. “I like to connect with my clients on a deeper level than dollar signs and small talk. Some of the most important friendships and advice in my life have come from sitting with individuals for hours, sharing more than surface-level thoughts on life, business, etc., and seeing how much we all have in common at the end of the day.”

From the age of 10 until he was 17, Dan spent his free time creating hip-hop tracks and sketching. He soon began to pursue his work more seriously after this unfortunate event. After losing his hard drive, he realized he had another gift to utilize. As a college student, he began an apprenticeship in a local shop. Aside from acquiring illustration skills and methods, he enrolled in school for the purpose of acquiring a practical craft he could use to advance his career. The arduous work of tattooing grew on him early in his apprenticeship. “The different skill sets within, the freedoms and lifestyle that it could offer were very intriguing to me from where I came from. I wasn’t poor but also not well off at all, so it was a beacon of hope that I wouldn’t have to follow the corporate mold.”

The inspiration behind Dan’s success can be attributed to his mother. Despite working three jobs and living her own life, she raised him on a middle-class income and sent him to the best high school and college. Make sure to follow Dan Price on Instagram here.
